East Hudson Soccer Academy

The primary objective of the Academy program will be to develop the next generation of soccer players providing them with the tools that will prepare them and make them capable of advancing and being successful at the State, Regional and National Level. The primary goal of the program is PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

·         All teams will carry the same name: East Hudson Academy

·         The full indoor program for the 2009/10 season will concentrate on the following age groups  U11,U12,U13,U14 for both genders. We are also introducing a U10 developmental program this season.

·         The program is designed to supplement all club activities permitting the committed soccer player to gain exposure to a higher level of training than he typically would receive in his/her club team. All of the teams make every effort to avoid conflicts with Club and/or League activities.

 Organization

·         The program will be open to all registered players in good standing within EHYSL. Once selected for the program, players will be expected to participate in all program activities as well as their respective club activities.

·         Teams will be formed with rosters of around 22 players. Generally speaking only 18 can participate in any event such as a tournament so that players are constantly competing for playing time. This generally raises everyone’s level of play and makes attendance at activities more meaningful. However every player will participate in at least 2 tournament events.

·         Tryouts will be held each year as early as possible in the fall season. The head coach in each age group will be provided with a list of coaches with contact information in his/her respective age group in the East Hudson League. It will be the responsibility of each age group head coach to maintain a dialog with such coaches to solicit their support and to ensure that any player capable of participating has not been overlooked in the tryout process.

Coaching Staff

·         Generally speaking candidates should have a National License (A, B or C) or a National D license or a NSCAA equivalent. Playing ability and experience(ability to demonstrate) are also  key attributes.

·         A Head Coach will not be permitted to coach a team in the same age group as his League program assignment. Furthermore a Head Coach will not be permitted to coach a team in a contiguous age group to his League team, i.e. the Boys U11 Head Coach will not be permitted to coach a U10 or U12 boys team in the League.

·         A training curriculum will be developed for each age group.

 Program

·         Teams will be organized as early as possible in the fall season.

·         Initially the program will concentrate on the U11-U14 age groups (Boys and Girls)

·         Each team will begin indoor practice in November and practice once per week indoors through March. All indoor practices are at the Net in Lagrange

·         Tournament play will be in the late fall, spring and summer with 4-5 events. Conflicts with club/ League/ State Cup play are to be avoided.
